Antivirus research and Malware Removal

Antivirus research

Owner Shane Coursen began a career in antivirus research in 1992 as Associate Software Engineer at Symantec Corporation helping to develop Norton Anti-virus v1.0 (through v3).

Between 1995 and 2007 Coursen held senior level antivirus research positions at Kaspersky Lab, Fortinet Inc., Trend MICRO, McAfee & Dr Solomon's Software. Also between 1995 and 2002 Coursen was maintainer of The WildList. Today The WildList is owned and operated by ICSA (a sub of Verizon) and is still the industry standard for antivirus software certification.

Malware removal & Information Security

Antivirus software scanners, firewalls, SSL encrypted connections and VPNs all have their place, but as much as a person may try, it's almost impossible to keep out 100% of the viruses, trojans and other forms of malicious software. Usually an antivirus product will detect and repair malware without a problem. It is the first line of defense, the best and most efficient form of computer security. I wholeheartedly recommend it. But it doesn't always work.

For nearly two decades I analyzed computer viruses, figured how they worked, how to detect them, documented them, performed post-event forensics for major corporations who had been hacked. With the help of over 80 volunteers, WildList Organization International and I even tracked the spread of malware on a global basis! When antivirus software can't fix your computer, call.
