We Develop Solutions
There are a number of reasons to own website; to augment business; for a personal blog; to show off a prized stamp collection. Equally, there are a number of ways that individuals and businesses can benefit from a website; additional marketing power; exposure to a larger market; communicating more effectively among friends, peers and associates.
No matter the reason, Let's Talk Graphics works closely with each client, first to identify their requirements, and then to design and develop a website that conforms to those needs. Along with our ability to completely manage the project's technical side, the result is a fullyfunctional and eye-catching website; a website that is ready to drive additional attention to your business and projects.
Already have a website, online store or just want to expand your social presence? Let's Talk Graphics can develop and maintain your CMS-based website. We are familiar with Joomla!, Drupal, WordPress and Facebook as well as a variety of shopping cart modules.
Logo Development
There is almost always an element of logo design while building a website. Let's Talk Graphics regularly reworks, modifies, recolors, and can apply any number of treatments to an existing logo to give it a fresh look.
We can design a logo from the ground up, using vector-based applications such as Adobe Illustrator. Vector-based graphics ensure that your logo will then resize to whatever size the job calls for -- as small as a postcard or as large as a billboard -- without pixelation or any loss of fidelity. Vector-based images ensure that others (printers, journalists, etc.) can easily use your logo in ads, stories, etc.
Infrastructure of a Website / Cost of Ownership
One of the first things people ask is how much we charge to build a website.
One-page websites begin at $145.00. A website consists of more than just a development fee, however, so it is good to have a basic understanding of the different parts of a website and the costs involved.
The domain name - This is the name that you register, ex: mywidgets.com or mywidgets.biz. The domain name must be renewed annually or can be paid for
for multiples years in advance. Averages $35.00 per year. Let's Talk Graphics recommends Network Solutions for domain name registration & domain hosting.- Domain hosting plan and other hosting plan additions - A hosting plan is like renting space on a powerful computer. It is where your website code resides and is served up to the world. Most people pay for hosting annually, or for multiple years in advance. Averages $80.00- $120.00 per year.
- Website/Database design and development - In addition to extending great prices for domain name registration and hosting plans from Network Solutions, Let's Talk Graphics offers website development services starting at only $145.00. There are additional savings for non-profit organizations.
Other infrastructure costs
Depending on the type of website there may be other infrastructure-related costs. An e-commerce site might want to have its own SSL certificate. SSL certificates start at about $70.00 - $100.00 per year. E-commerce sites also require a payment processor, who will charge their monthly rates to securely process credit card transactions online.
Email capability sometimes comes bundled with the hosting package, sometimes it is purchased ala-carte. SEO services the same. Online backup is a growing trend with many small businesses today and is sometimes offered as a hosting package option.
Dedicated servers. Virtual private servers. Hosted Exchange. Cloud. All are services that can be purchased while purchasing a hosting plan, each service incurring its own fee, of course.
Optional service fees can add up quickly. It is best to discuss with us your exact needs. We will offer advice on which services are actually necessary.
Website maintenance
The first thing to know about a website is that building one doesn't mean that anybody will know that it exists. Unless money is budgeted for paid SEO, it takes time for a website to organically gain rank in search engines. There are actions that can be taken to help the process along and yet the lack of continued maintenance in combination with additional search engine optimization is the number one reason why most websites fail.
There are two major components of website maintenance: 1) maintaining the cost of infrastructure and 2) physical labor. Infrastructure is paid for when the domain name is registered and hosting package purchased. Many people choose to pay for one year in advance, however multiple years-in-advance of domain name registration & hosting can be purchased, usually with financial incentives. Physical labor includes ongoing development and improvements to the website, additional SEO and other activities that can increase the online visibility of the business.
Website maintenance and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can improve a website's visibility. For those who want a high-visibility website, an aggressive SEO campaign is key. For everybody else, there are organic methods that work more slowly, but can achieve similar results.
Diligent continued maintenance of a website is required to make the initial investment worthwhile, primarily:
- Proper use of keywords, descriptions and other meta-tags
- Adding new content
- Performing SEO maintenance so website meta tags match new content
- Submitting new & updated pages to search engines
- Submitting new sitemaps, robots, etc, to search engines
- Continually maintaining directory listing accounts so these too match website content
- Website monitoring (through analysis such as Google Analytics)
Let's Talk Graphics offers continued website maintenance plans for every website that we build. Does it help? Yes it does! With patience and focused effort the site will grow in value in respects to SEO, and will more likely be found in search engine results.
